The Denver Preschool Program Marks Fifth Anniversary with Major Achievement Milestones
On October 18th we celebrated the fifth
year anniversary of the Denver Preschool Program with Mayor Michael
Hancock, honoring Governor John Hickenlooper and Sam Gary. And with 5
years of accomplishments under our belts, you can imagine there was a
lot to celebrate (click here for the results of our latest independent evaluation)!
Approved by voters in 2006, the Denver Preschool Program was created to connect Denver’s families with high-quality preschool. Since then, we have done just that. We have increased Access to preschool by providing tuition support to over 25,000 4-year-olds. Families have had the opportunity to pick the quality preschool of their Choice, with tuition support that can be used at a wide variety of more than 250 preschools all across the metro area. Finally, we have raised the bar on Quality, investing in ratings and professional development at participating programs so that families can choose the best option for their child.

The Denver Preschool Program is preparing kids for school, improving the quality of Denver’s preschools, and leaving a lasting impact on the entire Denver community.
Independent evaluation results have found that the vast majority of the nearly 6,000 children that participate in the program each year leave preschool prepared for kindergarten. With nearly 70% of eligible 4-year-olds enrolled, the Denver Preschool Program now stands as one of the highest-enrolled programs of its kind
anywhere in the country.
