Remember that to qualify for DPP you must live in the City and County of Denver and your child must be in the last year of preschool before kindergarten. Tuition credits are awarded based on a sliding scale which takes into consideration your family’s income, household size, and the quality rating of the preschool that you choose.
To apply, submit your completed application to DPP along with a copy of your child’s birth certificate, one month of income documentation, and proof of residence in the City and County of Denver (such as a copy of a lease or mortgage statement or a utility bill). If you are self-employed, you may complete a self-employment affidavit, which you can receive by calling 303.595.4DPP (4377).
In some cases, parents may choose not to provide DPP with any income information. In such cases, families will still be awarded with a tuition credit, however it will not be as significant as what they would otherwise receive.
After submitting your application, you will receive an acceptance letter from DPP. This letter will inform you of the tuition credit that you will receive, and will confirm the preschool provider that you have selected. Your preschool provider will receive this same information.
Note: If you are interested in applying to a Denver Public Schools Early Childhood Education program, please complete the DPP/DPS parent application which is available at your child's DPS school.
The tuition credit for your child will be provided to the preschool directly by DPP. Your provider will let you know your total tuition payment, if any.
